Demolition of Telford & a great start in the BSP

Blyth Spartans went to New Bucks Head to take on AFC Telford and destroyed a very poor Lillywhites team with the visitors smashing home 8 goals, Pierrick Chaitreuil with a hatrick and ably supported by strikes from Sakali, Walker, Clamy, Lorie and Potier. Spartans were helped by Telford being reduced to 9 men in the second half as the Northumbrian team moved to the top of the Blue Square Premier. Blyth manager, Olly Hunter, was delighted with his team's performance. "It had been coming. We'd seen glimpses of what we can do in the last few games and we see what the lads are capable of each day in training. So for it all to come together today, it's great for the boys and the fans.

Blythe Spartans are a surprising 1st in the BSP, 1 point ahead of Grimsby and have the best attack and defence in the league.

Our start was great, beating arch rivals Gateshead 5-0 at home in the opening fixture and recording some important wins. The 8-1 against AFC Telford was a delight but the greatest disappointment is the FA Cup 1st Round loss, at home to Colchester. We outplayed them but just couldn't put away our chances and the League 1 team stole the win. I wanted a run in the Cup to get some much needed funds in the bank, but at least now Blyth Spartans can concentrate on the league.

The lads are performing out of their skins with goalkeeper Liam O'Brien solid in between the posts, Karim Chatilla the engine in midfield and Pierrick Chaintreuil banging them in up-front. One ommision from the list below is captain Mustapha Traoré who suffered a torn calf muscle after just 4 games. He is out until the new year so South African Josh Vermooten was brought in as cover.

Blyth's immovable object in defence has been Andrew 'The Rock' Walker. An Irish American picked up on a free last season. Walker has continued his good form into the higher division, chipping in with 2 goals and making not one mistake. Walker's attributes don't look that impressive but he does have some good Physical stats and importantly above 10 in Marking, Tackling and Teamwork.

Ismaël Fofana, words cannot describe how good he's been on the left wing for The Spartans. The stats speak for themselves, 8 goals (some extremely vital), 5 assists and 3 man of the match awards. His form has been so good he's displaced Patrick Vaz as the team's first choice left winger.
Lastly a little treat, probably the best goal I've seen on FM11.

You're doing a great job with this blog mate, I have just discovered it. I'm a fan of the mighty Spartans myself, I have managed them in FM 2009 and took them all the way to the top. I wish you the best of luck!

P.S.: I have added a link to your blog on my website.
