Blyth's meteoric rise through the leagues continues

Not only is it a third successive promotion for Blyth Spartans but a third successive championship. We finished strongly with 8 wins out of the last 10 to finish 5 points ahead of Southend.

Although a successful season by most accounts: 4th round of the FA Cup and promotion, I'm not happy with  the leaking defence conceding 57 goals in the league. This definitely will be rectified by bringing another goalkeeper and a centre back in the summer. I also still need a captain, a commander to marshal the defence and the team as the highest influence attribute is just 13 and I'm sure this is a factor in my creaking defence.

Young centre back Stephen Folan was voted the player of the year. Although he had the highest average rating (7.23) almost the whole team under-performed. There wasn't a 20 goal player and the goalkeepers were suspect. Only Ismael Fofana truly impressed with 7 goals and 18 assists.

Lastly, something amazing happened in the the Confederation Cup as New Zealand - 105 in the world beat the mighty Brazil. A brilliant rear-guard victory ensued and Luiz Felipe Scolari was promptly sacked.
