Double time for Blyth

We are the Champions, my friends! Blyth Spartans romped home and clinched the Blue Square North by 8 points from AFC Telford, who were also promoted via the playoffs.

It's been a great season, not only winning the league but also the FA Trophy. Spartans met Blue Square Premier Mansfield Town in the final at Wembley in front of over 28,000 fans. Although we totally outplayed Mansfield they took a shock lead with just 5 minutes to go. But then this happened...

WHAT A GOAL!!!!! And to equalise too! I literally jumped out of my chair and punched the air. Badawassi Lorie then grabbed the winner and the match ball with his hat-trick goal in the second minute of added on time with a blistering shot at the keeper's near post.

Abdeltarak Sakali won the fans adulation for his all round contribution of 12 goals, 12 assists and average rating of 7.32 from 35 games.

But the success this year wasn't about one man it really was all about the team. I heavily rotated my squad and blooded some youth players , 17 year old midfielder Mory Ehouman in particular performed well and came up with a vital goal or two. Other stand out performers are Armand Ossey with 21 goals, Liam O'Brien's 53 games and only 42 conceded, defenders Andrew Walker with an average of 7.29 from 35 games and Mustapha Traore's average of 7.20 after 41 games.

I'm looking forward to next season in the Blue Square Premier, new transfers and hopefully another promotion!

Congratulations! I look forward to seeing more.

You have quite a multi-national side for a Blue Square North side!
